What is Swayam?

The program of Human Resource Development Ministry spells out as Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM). It offers courses ranging into hundreds and they are those which are taught at school, college and university level.

President prnam Mukerjee  launched the Swayam and Swayam Prabha platforms to facilitate imparting education to all. The Swayam program offers digital classrooms with the help of internet and satellite connectivity to the remotest corners in the country. Swayam is essentially a portal which has been formulated as a solution to the problem of difficult access to physical educational infrastructure and teachers along with study material and textbooks. Swayam will provide online study material to students free of cost and the courses will be taught via digital classrooms.

The program of Human Resource Development Ministry spells out as Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM). It offers courses ranging into hundreds and they are those which are taught at school, college and university level. The program will also likely rope in foreign teachers for some courses.

Furthermore, it can easily be integrated into one’s formal traditional education. The system allows the transfer of credits that a college student earns from a course directly into their academic records. It also provides courses of vocational nature and also for those who want to study while continuing with their jobs. All courses are free in Swayam and the fee is only for issuing of a certificate.

In the initial phase, courses will be offered by IITs Bombay, Madras, Kanpur, Guwahati, Delhi, IGNOU, University of Delhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, Indian Institute of Science, NCERT etc. The courses offered are from school to post-graduate level.

The broad categories of courses offered are engineering, management, science, arts and recreation, mathematics, languages, general studies, humanities, library sciences, energy, sustainable development, social science etc. The government expects at least 1 crore students to enroll in the initial 2-3 years.

The program also provides certification. If a student wants to get certification for course studies, one needs to register for it and the certification process will be carried out after the completion of the course. The certificate will be provided for a “nominal fee” as per the Swayam website.

The program takes digital education and satellite technology to a new paradigm in the country. Students across the country will be able to make use of the service and any queries that they have will apparently be clarified in real time to maintain a classroom-like environment.

The program will make available quality teachers to pupils and multi-language study material including in regional languages to get them started quickly. The program is of a Massive Open Online Learning format and seeks to provide the best teachers for students across the country with ICT solutions to bridge the gap between urban and rural education.

A total 32 Swayam Prabha DTH channels launched along Swayam portal seek to help students living in remote areas who don’t have proper connectivity to IT services.

India – A Nation that can Lead the World

The news has reached many that the USA has withdrawn from the Paris Climate Change Agreement. Ironically Trump is now criticizing India for carbon emissions when it’s the USA itself which has worse emissions.

Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is strongly committed to reducing emissions and ensuring 24×7 affordable power for all to grow a business and create jobs for the people. No one should hold back India from becoming a prosperous nation and it is right of every Indian to get reliable electricity. This reliable cheap electricity is important for our well being it will help in lifting the living standards for our families and villages with better education and health care.

Moreover, India considers the world as a family and we will never back down from supporting the health our family. The way for India to achieve the climate change targets in Paris is by using the latest clean coal technology in new and upgraded thermal power plants. India should advance this immediately and take the role of world leader for clean coal power to achieve Paris agreement targets. India can show the world how to develop with ultra-super critical power plants. Clean coal increases the efficiency of a power plant and lowers emissions. India needs to use coal as the baseload to deliver cheap electricity to the people. Our Energy Minister Shri Piyush Goyal has said at various forums that using clean coal technology is far more beneficial in cutting down emissions as compared to renewables and India is on the way to becoming a master in this technology.

Both Modiji and Piyush Goyal have a bright opportunity in front of them to show the world that India is now a champion in using highly efficient supercritical thermal power plants. The 21st century will make India a global leader in providing uninterrupted power to all its citizens. This will give the economic strength and citizens will have more chances to get jobs to support their family. Innovation in the thermal power sector is our moment to lead the globe and show other nations it can be done. India should stand behind the Govt in their endeavor to invest more in research and development of the coal sector so that it creates a big impact on the Global platform and establishes India as a leader in Ultra-modern clean coal technology.

GST will transform country into 'new India': Union Ministers

All praise for the GST, Union Ministers tonight said the tax reform measure will transform the country into a “New India” with uniform tax regime.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the new transparent, effective and progressive indirect tax regime will fulfill the dream of “New India”.

“As the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) said, GST is much more than an economic reform. It will take shape of social reform,” Pradhan said after attending a midnight function in Parliament organized for the rollout of the GST.

On the absence of some opposition parties, Pradhan said, “If they didn’t come, may Almighty give them some sense”.

Power Minister Piyush Goyal said barring a few, the entire nation has come together in “one stream and one necklace” to celebrate the launch of the “game-changing” reform that India always wished for.

“The GST will not cause distress or difficulty to the common man, but it will make tax evasion harder,” he said.

Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh said the Congress, which chose to boycott the launch event, will regret its decision later.

He said the Congress took the decision to keep away from the function despite the Modi government acknowledging the contribution of the previous governments by inviting former Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and H D Deve Gowda.

Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said GST will make India free of black money.

“I am confident that this will act like a boon for the common man as it will bring down prices. This landmark legislation will convert India into an economic union with uniform rules, laws, tariff, and procedures across the nation,” she said.

Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu said in the coming days, tax compliance and tax collection will improve and the common man’s problem in paying taxes will go.

Minister of State for Finance Santosh Gangwar said the GST council will come together again whenever it will be required.

It Starts With You: The 3 Great Thoughts That Can Change Your Life

This post is about you, exactly as you are right now. It’s not going to suggest for you to become someone, or tell you that you have to get somewhere or gain anything material.

It’s not going to suggest any of these things, because the greatest gifts are already inside you, waiting to be uncovered. And once they are, everything in your life will flow naturally, because when you start with yourself, the world around you will change.

If you wish for unconditional love, love yourself unconditionally.

If you wish to be accepted as you are, have the courage to accept yourself as you are.

If you wish to live a life with value, value your life.

And it is with this spirit that this post is written. I offer three simple pearls of wisdom that will help you uncover your greatness, by digging for the treasures that are already within.

It Starts With You: The 3 Great Thoughts That Can Change Your Life

It Starts With You: The 3 Great Thoughts That Can Change Your Life

Don’t waste your time chasing butterflies. Mend your garden and the butterflies will come.

– Mario Quintana

Your greatest love affair is you

There is one person you will have with your entire life. One whom, if you love, will always reciprocate. One that needs your love more than anyone else. And that person is you.

The greatest love affair you will ever have is with yourself, and you need to treat it like a great relationship. Too many of us give our love so freely to others, but do not give ourselves the same love. So many of us are willing to stand up to anyone that criticizes a person we fancy, yet do not stand up to that little voice in our head that puts ourselves down.

It is time to love yourself and to build this relationship. To reward that voice in your head every time it compliments you, to show yourself appreciation, and to allow and help yourself to find the enjoyment in life which you desire.

When you love yourself, you will find it easier to love others and the world around you. And they, in turn, will find it easier to love you.

When you let yourself shine, the world realigns

It’s important to let your true self shine, and to share your true gifts with the world. The beauty that dwells in your mind and that comes from your unique perspective on life needs to be heard. You will suffer criticism. But their opinions don’t matter because you have to be you. By being you, you will attract the right people into your life and repel the wrong people, so that soon you will be predominantly surrounded by those who love you for who you are.

For a life of value, value your life

Western society has sold us the idea that material possessions define you. But the truth is that little defines you but you and that these “things” do not lead to long-term contentment, but often to the opposite.

The majority of us, through our work, trade our time for money, which we then use to purchase things. It can feel like you’re just spending paper bills or numbers on a bank statement, but the truth is that whenever you buy things, you are literally spending your time.

You may not realize this, but when you buy things, you are valuing these purchases as much or more than the time it took you to make this money. Time which could possibly have been better spent with your loved ones, enjoying life, helping others, and doing what is important to you. And once you realize this, that money is your time, you start to view money differently.

You might realize that buying an expensive car isn’t worth the precious time you have to sacrifice in order to get it.

You might realize that maybe you don’t admire a person’s post on Instagram displaying their new purchases from Gucci.

Instead, you think of all of the more meaningful and exciting ways they could have spent their time. You start to value your time more than unnecessary, superficial purchases which depreciate in value. You realize that these “things” do not define people and that your time is worth more than them.

But this isn’t just about buying things that you don’t need.

Your life, in its essence, is purely a collection of moments in time. Where you spend your time, you spend your life.

So you have to have a laser-like focus on what is most important to you. One way or another you are going to spend your time. But it is how you spend your time that will make the difference between a good life and a mediocre one.

So spend your time wisely. Spend your time on what is most important to you. Spend it in a way that will ensure a good life. And naturally, you will have one.
